Lawnmower racing is one of several events added in recent years. Our carnival midway is full of rides and contests for all ages. We even have a "kiddie" midway for those young ones among us. A New TraditionThe Charles County Fair welcomed visitors to a new tradition: the area’s first Kris Kringle Christmas Market.Modeled after the famous markets in Germany, this two-day event at the fairgrounds offered lights, holiday food, handmade crafts from local artists and crafters, children activities, a cookie baking contest, shopping, music, and much more. The launch of this family-friendly event was particularly exciting in light of the fire damage several of our buildings underwent in April of this year. The Charles County Fair Board and Christmas market committee encouraged locals and visitors alike to come out to enjoy the music, shopping, and tasty Christmas treats. Admission was $1 or one non-perishable food item to benefit The Southern Maryland Food Bank. The official tree lighting and arrival of Santa Claus was held on Friday, December 6th.If you would like to be an exhibitor at the next year’s Kris Kringle Christmas Market, contact Agnes at 301-932-1234.
