    • bringing 2D entries to the Jesse L. Starkey Administration Building
    • bringing 3D entries to the fairgrounds
    • retrieving the artwork from the fairgrounds

Entries should only include work completed at or in connection with the school, and should not include entries shown in any previous Charles County Fair. Entries should be screened at the school level before being submitted. A Very Special Arts (VSA) Division in art is open to anyone who is physically and/or mentally challenged and attending a public or private school in Charles County.

STUDENT SERVICE LEARNING

Students who volunteer to assist at the fair may use these hours toward the service-learning requirement for high school graduation. Students need to have
their hours documented by getting an Individual Activity Packet from middle or high school counselors or the school SSL coordinator.

We are continuing to move toward a technology-based display in the School Building. The School Building will display artwork in the front half of the building and
the technology-based display in the back half of the building. All art entries are to be submitted following the timeline listed below. The technology-based displays
will be chosen by a committee with the goal of showcasing STEAM, Engineering, Science and other hands-on activities such as Lego Robotics and Vex Robotics.

Procedures for entry registration are below. Deadlines will be strictly adhered to.

May 28, 2025, 11:59 p.m. — 2-D Visual Art and 3-D entries are due online.
May 28- May 31, 2025 — Labels will be mailed/ponied to you during this week. They are to be placed on the front of the entry in the
lower right corner.
June 1, 2025, 4:30 p.m. — Deadline for 2D entries to be labeled, housed in your portfolio bag, and to be delivered to the
Jesse L. Starkey Administration Building.
June 4, 2025, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. — Judging will take place in Staff Development room at the Jesse L. Starkey Administration Building.
September 10, 2025, 7:30 a.m.-11 a.m. — All 3-D Art projects are to be delivered to the fairgrounds to the School Building.
No art work will be accepted that was not submitted by the May 31, 2025 deadline.
September 14, 2025, 12 p.m.-3 p.m. — All projects are to be picked up from the fairgrounds by your school representative. Any items left past this date are not the school system’s responsibility, and entries will not be released by the fair security personnel at any other time.

EXHIBIT & ENTRY CATEGORIES

Section A: Art
Grades Pre-K, K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 *Multiple awards are possible per grade level.

Entry allotment per teacher:
Grades Pre-K to 5: 12 pieces total including 2-D and 3-D work in any/all art classes, per teacher
Grades 6 to 8: 8 pieces total including 2-D and 3-D work in any/all art classes, per teacher
Grades 9 to 12: 5 pieces total including 2-D and 3-D work in any/all art classes, per teacher
Private Schools Pre-K to 12: 10 pieces total including 2-D and 3-D work in any/all art classes, per teacher
VSA Pre-K to 12: 3 pieces total including 2-D and 3-D work in any/all art classes, this is in addition to the grade allotted amount

Class 1 — All 2-Dimensional Work, please try to stay around the size of 18” x 24” — MUST HAVE A 1 INCH MAT
Class 2 — All 3-Dimensional Work is not to exceed 18” tall x 12” wide
Class 3 — Photography — black & white judged separately from color and MUST HAVE A 1 INCH MAT
Class 4 — Digital Photography — MUST HAVE A 1 INCH MAT
Class 5 — Very Special Artist (VSA) — 3 pieces per teacher — MUST HAVE A 1 INCH MAT
